Utilizing more than three decades of experience in music education, Greg Snyder leads the Lakota West High School Symphonic Winds and other concert bands, jazz ensembles, and the Marching Firebirds in his capacity as director of bands. In recent years, he took the Marching Firebirds to New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, an achievement marked by a proclamation from the Ohio House of Representatives and Senate. Moreover, the Lakota West Marching Firebirds was the first band in Southwest Ohio to participate in the Rose Parade at the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, California. Beyond his achievements as director of the Marching Firebirds, Greg Snyder guided the school's concert band to a win in the Boston Brass National Concert Band Competition.
In preparation for his career, Snyder enrolled at the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, where he secured his master's degree in music education. As a graduate student, he was elected class president. Earlier, he earned his bachelor's degree in music education from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Recently, his alma mater named him a Bowling Green State University Distinguished Alumnus. The award recognizes individuals who personify excellence through outstanding achievements and civic, cultural, and charitable contributions.
